GPU Price Analysis: A Closer Look
Eight months into the memory crisis, just how bad are graphics card prices? That's what I'm going to explore today.
We all know that components are getting more expensive. Gaming hardware manufacturers are continuing to raise prices. The steam machine was recently released at a terrible price, but what has the impact been on the graphics card market? Have prices stagnated, gotten worse, or by some miracle actually improved? I'm going to look once again at our graphics card pricing data from 10 countries.
Nvidia’s Entry-Level Models
The GeForce RTX 3050 hasn’t changed much compared to April outside of Canada and the Philippines where prices increased by over 10%. In most regions this model is as expensive as it was in April and on average across the regions the price is 6% above MSRP. The US and Canada are getting screwed the most here with the 3050 pushing up into the territory that the RTX 3060 used to occupy.
Speaking of the RTX 3060, this is one of the more interesting models that we’ve tracked in July. Across most regions the 3060 is actually a bit cheaper now than it was 3 months ago falling in price by 4% on average. Some regions like the US and UK were slightly up on previous pricing but this 8 GB model is on average available for the MSRP.
This has been calculated by taking the US MSRP which is the most heavily advertised price at the launch of the cards and then converting it into a local true MSRP for each country after applying a currency conversion and local taxes. This tells us how badly each country is getting screwed in their local market compared to the US launch price. Again, the US are getting the worst deal with the RTX 3060 priced at $340 US which is 13% higher than it should be.
In most other regions while the 3060 is a close to MSRP card, that doesn’t necessarily make it a good deal. It’s just not been heavily impacted by the current memory crisis yet.
The Best Option in Some Regions
This model is also generally less expensive in areas now compared to three months ago with an average price decrease of 5 percent. This means the affordable 3060 Ti 8 GB cards are now below the MSRP, including in the United States where this model has an MSRP of $380 US. In places like Germany, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands the 5060TI 8 gig has not gone up in price since November, which probably shows very low demand.
It also leads to a situation where in some countries it actually makes sense to buy a 5060TI 8 GB, than a 5060 if you want a standard Nvidia GPU.
Why the Worst GPU is Now the Best Option
The way things are going in the market now has changed what people think about graphics cards. In some places the RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB is now the graphics card you can buy because the price has gone down. This is really surprising because a little while ago the RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB was one of the more expensive graphics cards.
One of the reasons for this change is that companies that make graphics cards are having a time keeping up with how many people want to buy them. There’s a problem with getting the parts they need which is making all graphics cards more expensive.. Some graphics cards are affected more than others and that’s why the RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB is now a good option. The RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB is a choice, for people who want a graphics card.
The RTX 3060 Ti 16 GB
The 5060TI 8 GB is supposed to cost 27 percent than the 5060 at the price the company says it should be.. In the United States, canada and Australia the difference in price is actually less than 12 percent.
We looked at ten areas and found that the 5060TI 8 GB costs 16 percent more than the 5060 on average. For that money the 5060TI 8 GB gives you 17 percent better performance when you play games at 1080p.
I don’t think the 5060TI 8 GB is a choice because it’s not. The 5060TI 8 GB is still very expensive for a graphics card, with 8 GB of memory.
However the 5060TI 8 GB makes sense now than it ever has especially since the next Nvidia graphics card is a lot more expensive.
Implications and Analysis
The memory crisis is really affecting the prices of graphics cards. A lot of them have gotten more expensive over the few months.. Some graphics cards like the RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB have actually gotten cheaper. This makes the RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB a better deal for people who want to buy one.
I think it’s interesting that people in the US and Canada are paying much for graphics cards. The RTX 3050 and RTX 3060 are really overpriced compared to what they should cost. The RTX 3050 is especially bad.
In some places like Germany, the UK and the Netherlands the prices of graphics cards have not changed much. This means that people in these places can buy graphics cards for a price. The prices of graphics cards in these regions are pretty stable. So people might want to buy graphics cards from these places. The graphics card prices in these regions are a lot better than, in the US and Canada.
The Worst GPU is Now the Best Option: A Closer Look at Nvidia’s Entry-Level Models
As we have seen the worst GPU is now the choice in some areas.. What does this mean for people who want to buy a graphics card? In this part we’ll look closely at what these price cuts mean and how they change the market.
There’s a problem with memory, which has caused a shortage of parts. This has made prices go everywhere.. Some models have been hit harder than others.
This has created a situation where the worst GPU’s now the best choice. For example in places like Germany and the United Kingdom, the RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB is now less expensive than it was just a few months ago. This has made it a good choice, for people who want a graphics card without spending too much money.
The Future of Graphics Card Prices
As we keep moving it will be interesting to watch how the prices of graphics cards keep changing. Will the present pattern of prices going down keep happening. Will the companies come up with ways to make the prices go up once more?
Only the future can show. One thing is clear: the worst graphics card is now the best choice, in certain areas and that change is something worth noticing.
Conclusion
The worst GPU is now the best option? It’s a strange phenomenon that has been observed in some regions where the RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB is actually cheaper than it was three months ago. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s a good deal.
Graphics card prices are still extremely high across the board, and buyers should be cautious when making purchases. The current memory crisis has created a situation where some models are more competitive than others, but overall, prices remain high.
